PACIFIC OPTICAL

2007

The Pacific Optical Project won the top prize for the 2007 Interior Design Configuration award, and was even commended by renowned Singapore architect, William Lim. Coming from an approach of customization, raw materials were used as the tables and acrylic sheets and aluminium sheets were all sourced regionally and custom made for the walls. The lightings are bespoke and the chair pantone reflect a soft and aesthetically pleasing outlook. Where conventional optometrists often sit behind a counter to serve customers, the design of Pacific Optical instead encourages customers to more proactively walk around to try on the different glasses themselves. In line with the colour scheme of the optometrist, a painting was also specially done for the shop. Reflecting the nakedness of the raw materials used, and the nakedness of the eye despite glasses, concrete walls of the building were all left as they were.
